Peter is a warm and empathic therapist and certified coach with a deep presence. He has trained in modern psychology models that reflect the latest thinking in the field. He has a Masters in Counseling from St. Edward’s University and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. Peter specializes in connection, authenticity, and relationships. Peter’s style is positive and non-judgmental. He works with each client’s strengths to help them navigate life challenges, setting clear goals for the work.
Peter has dedicated himself to learning from top mentors including Stan Tatkin, Bruce Ecker, John Howard and Juliane Taylor Shore. He has trained in Dr. Peter Levine’s Somatic Experiencing approach to therapy and experiential mindfulness with Dr. Tori Olds, which he incorporates into his work. Peter also holds additional certification in the psychology of eating and can assist his clients in discussing their relationship to food and their overall wellness goals. He enjoys helping his clients explore, gain insight, and take action toward greater health by overcoming behavior patterns and fostering greater self-compassion.
Peter has an international background and is comfortable counseling clients of diverse beliefs and cultures. He has traveled widely since an early age, and has lived abroad. Peter has studied many world traditions of healing and spirituality and is comfortable discussing personal growth and spirituality with clients who see their growth in those terms. Peter has studied with John Howard for over 10 years and adds his own warmth and enthusiasm for inspiring individuals and couples towards deeper connection.
Peter teaches couples therapy at UT Dell Medical, is a member of the Sexual Health Alliance, and runs a meet up group for counseling graduates of St. Edward’s University. He has authored several articles on psychology and written three books of poetry- Caravan of Lovers (2018), Why We Keep Breathing (2011), and Mirror of Fire (2008). Peter loves sports, co-founded a triathlon team for JuiceLand, and enjoys playing music with his band Dharma Collective and relaxing at Barton Springs.
